This year’s event will see 32 teams from all around the world duking it out for the title and $1 million in prize money. But, before these teams get to square off in a live setting, there is a qualification process to determine what teams deserve a chance of claiming the title.
Qualifying events begin on January 18th, with a number of events to be held between then and February 23rd all around the globe. Any Call of Duty player or team, professional or not, can sign up for a qualification event.
This year’s event is sponsored in part by Microsoft and will be the first official Call of Duty competitive event played on Xbox One. The competition is to be broadcast via www.mlg.tv.
Last year, Fariko defeated EnVyUS to claim the crown and $400,000. You can catch notable moments and highlights from the 2013 Call of Duty Championship in the promotional video below. More information regarding this year’s event is available from www.majorleaguegaming.com.
