Montreal's gaming industry continues to go from strength to strength as an announcement from Vancouver based 7G Entertainment earlier this week brought the number of new jobs game related jobs created in the area to approximately 1,500 over the last five years.
This stunning growth is a reflection on how important Canada has become to the gaming industry globally, with many of the world's top development studios based over here now.
This latest move will see 7G Entertainment set up two separate ventures in Montreal, based around web hosting and the publishing of online games. Infinite Game Publishing will offer developers everything they need in order to get their games published online, while Seven Group Games Services will offer a number of management and hosting services to those interested in delivering game content via the web.
7G plans to hire as many as 180 new employees in the next couple of years as the new companies expand, and it will be aided in its bit by an $8 million investment in the company by The Fonds de Solidarité FTQ.
With this move, 7G is set to become Canada's first online game publisher.
