The makers of Minecraft, Mojang, have their thing and it is a very sucessful thing.
Telltale Games have an entirely different thing which is also quite sucessful.
Somehow, they are now working together.
Apparently they're collaborating on a story-driven game which will be set in the Minecraft universe but presumably be an adventure title in the mould of The Walking Dead or Tales from the Borderlands. Given that Minecraft almost makes a point of having no real story, and the world is all based around creating your own adventure, it seems like a pretty strange move.
At least with The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, there was a huge amount of story to draw from. And even though the Borderlands universe is more spare and open world, there's plenty of lore to go about creating a universe that feels really lived in.
Each Minecraft map is as unique as the person who made it, but these two companies are said to be working with members of the community to make the title as 'Minecrafty' as possible. What exactly that means remains to be seen.
We've got a lot of faith in Telltale but this is still sounding mightly weird.
More news as we get it.
