Metal Gear as we know it will be no more, Hideo Kojima has been fired.
At least that's the news according to singer-songwriter Donna Burke, who tweeted the following:
The Tweet was in response to suggestions that players should boycott the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Burke was hoping that the rest of the development team wouldn't have to suffer poor sales in the wake of the loss of Kojima. The official word from Konami since March 2015 is that the acclaimed director is still heavily involved in all things Metal Gear but this came after all references to Kojima and his company were removed from the promotional material for the game.
It's a complicated situation but Konami is staying firm to its message, while the game maker himself has stayed silent. Right now, it feels like everyone involved is keeping quiet while the game inches closer to its September 2015 release date but our feeling right now is that after that date Kojima and Konami will part ways.
And what happens to the Metal Gear franchise then?
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is coming to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC from the 1st of September 2015.
