EB Games, and Australian games retailer, has let slip that the 25th August marks the hotly anticipated release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
So not April… Damn it!
Considering that’s a Thursday, chances are it will be a next day release for the UK and Ireland.
Last December, Square Enix announced a delay in Deus Ex Human Revolution's launch schedule. Reasons were as follows,
'With weak sales performance of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year as well as harsh market feedback regarding a key title, the Group recognizes the reinforcement of development capability in our Digital Entertainment segment as our most critical managerial issue,' Square Enix said in a note to investors.
'We therefore have decided to spend additional time to further polish our upcoming game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, resulting in a shift in release timing from our prior plan of the current fiscal year to next fiscal year.'
We all know delaying games long past their original release is typically a bad sign, a sign that more than a hasty spit polish is needed.
However Deus Ex is different. Take the following equally important, if drastically different points:
First, the original release date was never actually locked down. It was announced Deus Ex would launch some time in Square Enix's next fiscal year. August counts as some time.
Second, Deus Ex has robot arms.
I think you catch my drift.
