Making a game like Battlefield 1 comes with a huge number of challenges, not least delivering on the promise of one of the most successful first person shooter franchises around.
A lot of that is down to the massive multiplayer modes which have become a trademark of the series, and next to their bombast the single player campaign has always rested a little uneasily, feeling unfinished and fairly unengaging. It looks like they're working hard to fix that with Battlefield 1.
Here's a glimpse at the multi-faceted story which takes in tales of a number of different characters and their attempt to survive the horrors of World War 1.
The characters you play will include a former driver who gets drafted to work on a tank crew, and an Arabian rebel who plays a rare female character in this series. She works with Lawrence of Arabia to take down an heavily armored train in what looks like an incredible set piece.
So far so good really. It can be hard to get players to care about the story based mode, especially as its likely many never even play it, but it's good to see that EA and DICE are still putting in the effort.
Oh and in case you were wondering about the music, it also appeared in the teaser trailer for Pan last year- which ended up being better than the entire movie. The track is towards the end.
Battlefield 1 is out on the 21st of October, 2016.
