In a blog post, DICE’s VP Karl Magnus Troedsson outlined the three main reasons why the launch of Battlefield Hardline would be pushed back. With regards to stability, he explained that the team can use the additional time to find and fix issues that arise prior to launch. He also revealed that there will be another beta, which the team will be able to learn from.
The previous Battlefield Hardline beta resulted in a wealth of community-based ideas. More feature ideas will be added to the upcoming game thanks to input from the community. In addition, the single player’s core features are to be polished and more will be added to “support a deeper ‘crime revenge’ story experience.”
It was ultimately decided that a delay would allow Visceral to create a game that “is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience.” Time will tell if the development team can make that expectation a reality. Battlefield Hardline will now launch in early 2015.
