Bungie’s next series,
Destiny, is part of a long-term plan that will see the adventure unfold over the next ten years! The team is looking to emulate the success of its previous charge,
Halo, by creating something that draws on the team’s experience, but stands out on its own at the same time. These bold statements were made as part of a recently released video to announce the new project, which included interviews from studio co-founder and project director Jason Jones, and some of the team behind Destiny.
The video sums up the storyline nicely with some concept art to boot. Basically, humans as a race were doing pretty well with civilization spread out across the system. However, something decided to try to wipe us out and almost succeeded. A few survived thanks to an entity known as the Traveller; a giant sphere that still lingers above Earth. With the rebuilding process underway…it is clear that more nasties are out there, attempting to wipe humans out for good.
Players will take on the role of a guardian of the city. However, if they fail, “the last light of civilization will go out.” No pressure then…
