The first image of the new Call of Duty game, developed by Sledgehammer Games, has been unveiled. The image was originally shown at the Game Developers Conference last month. It appeared on the screen for about a fraction of a second.
IGN managed to capture this image.
The image is reportedly a depiction of what an in-game rendered character will look like. The image is of a soldier who is so intricately detailed that you can see the pores on his face and nose. That's some seriously impressive stuff.
Jorge Jimenez, Activision technical director, showed off some amazing character models at last year's GDC. It is unknown if the image was built using that same technology.
Activision has not revealed the title of this year's new Call of Duty game, but it is likely we will find out the name in May as previous Call of Duty titles have been known by then. This will also be the first Call of Duty title to be under the new three-year development cycle for the franchise. The words "creative" and "ambitious" have been used to describe the game. Sledgehammer has even gone on to say that this may be "perhaps the best Call of Duty game ever created".
It is slated to release this fall.
