Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is going big early with a reveal trailer and gameplay first look, more than six months ahead of its planned Novembe 6th release date.
And the game is looking very tasty indeed, dealing with a world which follows on from Black Ops 2 but carries over the in-game tech of Advanced Warfare. It's coming from franchise vets Treyarch (World at War, Black Ops) and will see you taking on enemies in 2060 with souped up armaments and four-player co-op. Here's the first gameplay teaser.
That's looking like a lot of fun, provided you have the hardware for it. An early preview of the game is suggesting that it will be the first in the series to be only available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. As a massive franchise, the game has always been made available to as many players as possible, so this stands a chance ot alienating long time players.
On the other hand, Black Ops 3 will arrive a full two years after the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One, giving the consoles plenty of time for sell-through, and it's preferable in some ways to be able to create a game which isn't held back by aging hardware. In the past, other console versions of the game have been handled by different developers which can result in a worse product so its best to get one game for everyone who wants to play it. We'll have to wait and see if the franchise can maintain its massive sales figures with this move to fewer consoles.
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC on the 6th of November 2015.
