You may be thinking that you've already seen a shedload of videos from the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - CG and gameplay and all manner of killing things and sometimes talking to things. But the fact of the matter is that, in a lot of cases, game footage is captured on a PC for these videos.
The reasons are many but the one obvious one is that a monster PC can make the game look absolutely incredible, with massive graphical detail and silky smooth frame rates. But the developers are also putting the game together using PCs and capturing and editing the footage in that way so it just makes sense.
The flipside is that the game often looks better in promos than it does in reality - but that's normal for any kind of marketing. In the case of the divide between consoles and PCs though it's a little more significant, given that there's usually a frame rate and resolution gap. For example a recent Wild Hunt video by Microsoft showed the game at 1080p and 60 frames per second but was intended as an Xbox One trailer, wherre the game will only run at 900p and 30fps.
With the game almost readay for its worldwide release, its times to check out what it's really going to look like on PS4 with this first look video.
Let's be honest, it's looking pretty great - especially the scale of the world without any loading and the way that guy gets cleanly sliced in two by your blade. It has been confirmed that the game will run at 1080p and 30fps on the PS4 and while that will never match the smoothness of 60 frames per second, it's looking fine right now and, more importantly, stable with few stutters.
The short version is no matter what console you're playing the game on, its going to look gorgeous and suck away countless hours of your life.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on PS4, Xbox One and PC on the 19th of May 2015.
