Defending champion falls in group stage of FIFA Interactive World Cup
This year’s FIFA Interactive World Cup has emulated its real life counterpart with shocks of its own, as defending champion Bruce Grannec was knocked out without a win to his name.

The Frenchman was one of 12 that were eliminated in the group stages, a casualty list that also included Ireland’s Adam Johnston. Group A was decided in dramatic fashion as Ty Walton and Jorrick Boshove finished level on all tiebreakers. Eventually, it came down to a penalty shootout, so the odds were always against the Englishman, and sure enough Ty was beaten 4-2 in the shootout.

After a tense day of group stages, the qualified players then had to face the pressure of the first knockout phase. August Rosenmeier (Denmark), Jorrick Boshove and Steven van de Vorst (Netherlands), and David Bytheway (England) were the victors and will participate in today’s semi-final.
