Destiny is getting a hell of a push these days, despite a launch date of September 9th.
And it looks a pretty familiar experience, a humourless half-way house between Halo and Borderlands. There’s plenty here to recognize – healthbars, heavy weapons, special moves, loot, armour mods, sideys, dip-in cooperation and subjects with the definite article obnoxiously affixed before their title - “The Traveller” “The Guardians” “The Fallen” “The City” “The Light”.
And despite a constant insistence that this project is categorically NOT an MMO, Destiny, with its focus on levelling up, loot, PVE, myriad missions and social hubs, looks EXACTLY like an MMO!
And I’m kind of alright with that. A premium console FPS MMO is just what the doctor ordered to cap off a fine generation. Bungie don’t need to be ashamed of this, they should be proud. Maybe. Assuming Destiny is any good. It looks good at least, check it out…
