Early Xbox One Adopters Won't Get Freebies Following Price Cut
But first Xbox One Games with Gold titles are confirmed...

Following yesteday's announcement that the Xbox One would be getting a price drop to $399/€399 thanks to the removal of Kinect from the package, Microsoft has insisted that it has absolutely no plans to reimburse those who paid full price for the system.

Although it was always going to be unlikely that early adopters would see some form of refund by way of a free game or DLC, a Microsoft spokesperson definitively cleared up the matter when speaking with website Eurogamer, explaining that because of the nature of the business, things change over time...

As with many first generation products, the offerings can be expected to change and evolve over time.Kinect remains an integral part of our vision. Xbox One is better with Kinect, making games, TV, and entertainment come alive with premium experiences.

The news will likely come as a disappointment to some gamers who were hoping that the drop in price might see some form of reward for players, but Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi explained to GameSpot yesterday that other plans were in the works to thank all Xbox One owners for their support, saying...

Part of what we're trying to do is really deliver value for those early purchasersand that's part of what we're doing with some of the Games with Gold value offer that we've brought. One of the things that we did is we're bring an extra [free] game to Xbox 360. So we're always trying to reward our best fans with more services.

The first Games with Gold offerings for the Xbox One have been announced, and players can look forward to getting their hands on Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault free of charge (assuming you've got a gold Xbox Live account) next month.
