The Final Fantasy series never seems to actually reach its end, with the 15th main episode due out in Septembe 2016.
Final Fantasy XV is part of the same sub universe as X-III (yes we've given up trying to make sense of it too) and will see players take on the role of Noctis, a young man who is trying to save his people from invasion. He's also the heir to the throne of his country and has a bunch of travelling companions. So far, so Final Fantasy.
Amazingly XV has been in development to some degree since 2006, and was originally intended to arrive on the PlayStation 3. Many people expected that it would in fact never be released, so it's great to see the project reborn and set for a debut on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you want to get a taste of what's in store a demo has just been made available which lets you play as a younger version of Noctis.
Here's an awkward looking trailer.
This Platinum Demo is pretty interesting because it includes unique setting and gameplay that isn't part of the final game, so it's a primer for the world and you won't have to play the same section over again in Final Fantasy XV. You can also get to grips with the battle system and meet the long eared Carbuncle, who you can also unlock in the full game.
Grab it on Xbox Live and PSN now.
Final Fantasy XV is out in Septembe 2016. Probably.
