Firefly is gone. It's not coming back. There won't be a TV show, or another movie. It's just not going to happen.
It took me quite a while to get this information into the thickest part of my brain but I'm there now and I'm (mostly) ok with it. Thankfully, there is a treatment program for fans. It's called Firefly Online.
Firefly Online is a web-based RPG game set in Joss Whedon's 'verse which tasks you with taking a ship out into the great black yonder and getting up to all kinds of stuff that may not be entirely legal. It's set to come to PC, Mac and mobile platforms in Spring and it's got voicework by most of the original cast.
But before all that, you can get familiar with the world thanks to the games companion app. The Cortex is chock full of information about the game, breaking news and mini-games which can all help you earn points to become an even better captain. Captain. Here's a video explaining how it works.
So you can pay a five to become a full member and delve deeper into what the game has to offer ahead of time. The graphics are pretty fun, and there's a pretty great theme song which plays as you browse.
Head here for updates and download links for the companion app, which is now available on PC, Mac, iOS and Android.
Firefly Online is launching in the next few months. More as we get it.
