The dedicated competitive gaming first-person shooter
ShootMania Storm will soon enter a closed beta phase and interested players are being invited to register to get their hands on a beta key. All you have to do is register on the
ShootMania website before July 2nd. Once started, the closed beta will last for a week.
The closed beta will feature a variety of maps and modes. The included modes are
Joust (1v1),
Elite (3v3),
Siege (5v5),
Melee (free for all),
Royal (free for all with the dome over the map shrinking),
Battle (no size restriction on teams), and
Time Attack (a training mode). ShootMania is being designed with competitive play in mind, so the maps, weapons and models are taking cues from other popular competitive games and modifications.
In the mode highlighted in the trailer, one attacker is pitched against three defenders and must kill them all or capture a point. The attacker is armed with a railgun which is an instant hit and instant kill weapon. The defenders are armed with rocket launchers and must hit the attacker three times to kill them. If you are interested in more footage from the tournament in which the trailer is cut from, take a look at the playlist below.
The developer behind ShootMania,
Nadeo, was previously responsible for
TrackMania Nations, a racing title developed specifically for the
Electronic Sports World Cup. This was a game that was easy to play, but challenging to master and those interested in competitive gaming are hoping for a repeat performance from ShootMania.
