Gran Turismo 6 books place on PlayStation 3 grid
Gentlemen...start your waiting!
The next instalment in the Gran Turismo series, Gran Turismo 6, is gearing up to launch on PlayStation 3 this holiday season. According to Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, the game will be released on PlayStation 3 as there is a very loyal community on the platform.

The press release, leaked ahead of the official announcement event which is taking place at Silverstone today, states that the title will bring “new levels of authenticity to 'the Real Driving Simulator' as well as introducing stunning new tracks and cars and a revised user interface.”

Gran Turismo 6 will feature 33 locations, including Silverstone and six other new locations, and 71 different track layouts. In addition, new tracks will be made available online, while Sony says that the course maker has been improved. All of the cars featured in Gran Turismo 5 will return with new additions bringing the total car list to 1,200.

As you would expect from a title in this day and age, Gran Turismo 6 will connect with devices such as smartphones and tablets for social and community functions. The GT Academy, which sees Nissan and Sony team up to find real racing drivers, will be returning.

The leaked release doesn’t give away too many details and it is expected that more will be revealed at the special 15th anniversary event taking place at Silverstone Circuit today. No mention was made of a PlayStation 4 release, but this may be in part due to the console having no specified launch date.
