Rockstar Games has had enough with the cheating and modding which is rife in the GTA Online community, and it's stopping now.
From today, players who have earned money in illegal ways will find that cash gone from their coffers. And if you've been getting funds in that way from the start, you may find yourself cleaned out entirely.
If you're one of the many cheats, you'll be getting a message from the game saying this:
"We have determined that your account illegitimately gained in-game money via mods, cheats, or other actions. We've adjusted your account and updated your balance."
There's no messing around here, which makes sense given the fact that it has taken Rockstar years to actually take action against these players. Folks who used glitches are also losing their funds, and more resets could be on the way.
Rockstar is also bringing in a new banning system which sees first offenders getting their progress reset. And if you get caught cheating twice, you're out of the game for good.
There's more info about all of this over on the official forum but the basic message is - don't cheat or you'll seriously regret it.
