We can finally show something from a third episode or instalment of the Half-Life franchise, but unfortunately it is only concept art…for now. The artwork comes from Valve artist Andrea Wicklund and shows off a redesigned Alyx Vance with a variety of outfits, including some set to withstand Arctic conditions, Gordon Freeman in a parka, and a re-imagined Xen planet.

These art pieces are from 2008 and indicate where Valve was thinking of taking the franchise at that point in time. They have been confirmed as official by longstanding community members on Valve’s forums, but Valve has not released any announcement or statement yet. Unfortunately, this is not concrete proof that a new Half-Life game is on the way in the near future. The pictures are tagged “ep3”, but all this tells us is that at one point in time, Valve had at least reached the concept stage with Episode 3. Well, at least this will keep us ticking over for another few months.
