iOS 10 removes GIF search terms after porn results appear

iOS 10 is now available to all, bringing with it some clever new features. Of course, there are usually some hiccups around the launch of a new version of an OS, but Apple has been left red-faced and backpedalling after this snafu.

Deadspin reported that the newly updated Messages app’s GIF search feature made it quite easy to find hardcore pornography. Obviously, certain search terms like “boobs” and “penis” are blocked, but terms such as “huge” and “bounce” brought back some x-rated results.

Apple has since expanded its list of blocked works to include terms like bounce, hard, and nipslip. It was also forced to block the word “butt” after users found pictures of a My Little Pony character in a compromising position.
