Legend of Zelda gets new 3DS outing
A literal Link to the Past.
Nintendo’s Direct Conference has brought more good news for 3DS players with the news that a new Legend of Zelda game is on its way to the console “this Holiday season.”

The title will be based on the world of A Link to the Past (1992), but will utilise the console’s 3D capabilities to reinvigorate the flat 2D world of that game. The new game will offer a sense of height and volume and make use of the 3D landscape in puzzles and navigation. New mechanics will also be introduced, such as the ability for Link to become a 2D drawing and move along walls. It will also feature new dungeons and an original storyline.

The game is titled The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2 in Japan, but doesn’t have an official title in other regions. It will be released at the end of this year in North America, while Japanese players will have to wait until next year to explore the reimagined classic world.
