Not that I have anything specifically against this Zach Snyder, Christopher Nolan, Ben Affleck, Justice League Movie Franchise origin vehicle. But every last bristling fibre of my being is convinced it’ll be an indigestible serving of creatively hollow slurry.
Not that I have any strong feelings on the matter though…
In any case, just take the teaser trailer for Lego Batman 3. It’s called Beyond Gotham. This is an understatement. It’s set in space. It’s also sodding hilarious, but not in a way which diminishes any intellectual property on-screen. Batman is a brooding melodramatic. Supes is a smug, holier-than-thou overconfident. Flash is a smarmy git. It’s colourful, humourous and gleeful in its adaptation of comic book characters. And we’re only 60 seconds in.
I’m not saying I want… ahem… “Dawn of Justice” to be outclassed by a kids video game in terms of character depiction, narrative direction and creative use of content. I just really think it will be…
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is due this autumn for Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Wii U, PSVita, 3DS and PC.
