LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy is making a return, but being put behind the wheel.
United Front Games, the team previously responsible for
ModNation Racers, are leading the new project called
LittleBigPlanet Karting. The game is aimed at both karting and LittleBigPlanet fans, and is designed with the mantra of “Play, Create, Share” in mind.
Senior Producer at United Front Games,
James Grieve, said that Sackboy is an iconic character and that this is a great opportunity. Grieve said, “Our goal with LBP Karting has been fairly simple – provide a fast-paced experience that captures the best of classic karting gameplay, married with the unbridled creativity of LBP.”
The world is set in 3D and will provide ample opportunity for players to create and share environments and gameplay experiences. As with LittleBigPlanet titles in the past, players will be able to modify the rules of the game. This means that new game modes and challenges can be created. Grieve said, “The LBP community is unparalleled in the gaming world for the passion and creativity they bring and it’s going to be exciting to see where they’re able to take this new journey for Sackboy.”
More news and announcements will be released in the coming weeks. LittleBigPlanet Karting will be released in 2012, but a release date has not been narrowed down yet.
