LittleBigPlanet won't be closing shop after all

We recently reported that LittleBigPlanet servers were closing in Japan, shutting off access to online creations and any social functions. It was assumed at the time that these outages might spread to the rest of the world but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The latest word, via Eurogamer, is that only LittleBigPlanet Racing and Portable will be effected. That means the first three main games and also the PS Vita title are safe, at least for the moment.

This is very good news indeed, and not all that surprising. It seems strange that Sony would be making the decision to shutter a series which has been so successful, especially as the most recent entry, LittleBigPlanet 3, isn't even 2 years old yet.

So keep playing, creating and sharing like your life depended on it, because LittleBigPlanet lives another day.
