Launch trailer lands, with added kiddie death
It can’t have escaped your notice that
Mass Effect 3, the latest chapter in the downright sensational action RPG series from genre masters
BioWare is coming to a console near you soon. March 9th to be exact. To keep anticipation high,
EA has just released a suitably epic CG trailer for the game.
Mass Effect 3 sees the deadly Reapers make their way to Earth in their quest to rid the universe of humanity once and for all. This video shows the global destruction they cause, as well as how rigorous they are in the cleansing of the planet.
There’s no faulting the production value of the promotional material
BioWare produces, particularly given the fact that this scene will likely never appear in the game but our main thought in the wake of this trailer? That kid is damned creepy looking!
Seriously, she looks like she was constructed by someone with only the vaguest knowledge of what a child looks like, mainly drawn from some kind of monstrous doll. Those eyes, they’re coming to get you!
Otherwise, it’s an epic, thematic glimpse at the game – showing the destruction which forces Shepard to head out into the Galaxy in search of help to fight back against the Reapers. The use of a single child’s death against the murder of millions in the cities is a little calculated but the action looks intense and the music is superb – we can’t help hoping it’s a cut from Clint Mansell’s score for the game.
As if this wasn't exciting enough, tomorrow you'll get a chance to see the extended version of this trailer. What's with this trailers-for-trailers thing? Just show us the whole promo in one go!
Mass Effect 3 is coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on the 9th of March.
