Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will apparently be released worldwide on September 1st.
That’s according to the sleuths at NeoGAF who seem to have found a video somewhere in IGN’s infrastructure. The outro screen holds the key. It says in no uncertain terms that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will have a world wide release on September 1st, 2015.
In the video, Kojima talks up the game and what has gone before it. Towards the end of the video, Kojima describes the canon of Metal Gear Solid games he has worked on as a “single Metal Gear saga.”
He says that this is the end of the Metal Gear story to him, even if there should be other Metal Gear titles in the future. He says, “With Metal Gear Solid 5, I'm finally closing the loop on that saga. Even if the Metal Gear saga continues, to me this is the last Metal Gear."
The official announcement is due this week during GDC.
