The private server service for Minecraft, dubbed Minecraft Realms, became available today in North America according to an announcement from Mojang. By signing up for Minecraft Realms, players pay a monthly subscription fee to have their own private Minecraft server that can support up to 20 players at once. Servers from the Minecraft Realms service are up 24/7 and provide extra options to the owner, such as the ability to restore the world to an earlier point in the case of some major mistake or disaster. A subscription to Minecraft Realms starts at $13 USD per month and is currently only available on the PC version of the game.
