Microsoft could be preparing to announce an update to the Xbox One, and perhaps a brand new Xbox, at E3 this summer.
A Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing indicates that Microsoft is testing a new wireless data transmission chip. There are two devices listed with the FCC; one which bears the same model number on its manual as the Xbox One and a brand new listing.
To get technical, one of the devices, which is identified as C3K-1683 in the filing, references “User Manual 1525.” 1525 refers to the original Xbox One’s FCC ID, which indicates that it’s getting an update, perhaps even a Slim variant.
Documents related to this device will become available after E3, so it looks like Microsoft will have an announcement to make then.
