I’m still in two minds regarding Thief…
Mind 1) It’s from Eidos Montreal and the last thing I played by them (Deus Ex: Human Revolution) wound up being my pet favourite game ever. Also, it looks like a carefully considered burgle-em-up replete with variant play styles, assorted routes and varied mechanics. Thief looks to encourages individuality with plenty of choice. My kind of game.
Mind B*) Haven’t I already played this TWICE, in the past few years. I played Cyber-Thief (DX:HR) and loved it. I played Magic-Thief (Dishonored) and loved it. What has boring old normal Thief got to offer?
And also, I’ll feel like a complete jackass murdering all those guards when the ultimate goal isn’t saving the world or even revenge but simply ‘Imma gonna nick yo shit!’
*The less rational of the two hemispheres…
Bearing that in mind, the next six minutes still make for a pretty convincing argument . Sure, you may have to reconcile the patrolmenicide with your own conscience, but in terms of sheer gameplay, of raw fun, this trailer makes a compelling case.
Thief sneaks its way onto PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 in February 28th
