Not so very long ago,
EA’s insistence on yearly updates to their core sports title was considered folly – a cold hearted way to pilfer yet more money from your already beleaguered pockets. But then something very interesting happened –
EA Sports got good.
Some years on from that renaissance, fans not only look forward to new cosmetic changes to their yearly iterations but also to carefully doled out updates of major and minor features. And this year is set to be no different, with the recent confirmation of a bunch of new additions to the venerable
FIFA franchise (
detailed over here) and we’ve got a teaser of what’s to come in
NHL13.
The copy references the Skill Stick controls first implemented six years ago in
NHL 07, which brought a new fluidity to controls by allowing players to use the thumb sticks for creative play.
NHL13 is promising a new controller revolution along the same lines. We just hope it has nothing to do with motion controls.
NHL13 is coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and practically every other format you can name in September 2012.
