Niantic has started swinging the ban hammer at Pokémon Go players.
According to an e-mail received by Reddit users, their account is being terminated because of the use of third-party software or apps. It says that this includes, but is not limited to, “scripts/apps, applications used to falsify your location, emulators, modified or unofficial software, and/or accessing Pokémon Go clients or backends in an unauthorized manner,” which is considered cheating.
The e-mail also says that if you believe your account has been banned in error, you can fill out a form to have it reversed. It adds, “Please consider your account permanently terminated unless we reply back to your appeal.”
It’s going to be a worrying time for Pokémon Go players who used additional tools to get a leg up on the app.
