Nintendo unveils cutest amiibo yet

Nintendo’s amiibo figures, those little collectibles that double as in-game characters, have taken the world by storm. And soon the line-up will get significantly cuter.

Nintendo announced a special yarn Yoshi amiibo, which will be compatible with Yoshi's Woolly World. The cute amiibo will be available in green, light blue or pink. It will be released this autumn and gives players "double Yoshi," or a second on-screen character.

Several other characters will be immortalised in amiibo form in May. During Nintendo’s Direct presentation, it was announced that new figures, including Charizard, Pac-Man, Wario, Jigglypuff, Greninja, Robin, Lucina and Ness will be released on May 29th. These Super Smash Bros. compatible figures will later be joined by Dark Pit and Palutena in July, and Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Olimar, Dr. Mario and Bowser Jr. in September.

Finally, there will be a special trio of amiibo figures released alongside the paint-based shooter Splatoon for Wii U in May. Inkling boy, girl and squid will be available individually or as part of a pack.

In better news for amiibo collectors, the Marth figure will be restocked next month. You can see the full line-up of amiibo on Nintendo’s dedicated website.
