Pac-Man celebrated its 35th anniversary recently, and will come to mobile devices this summer to captivate a new generation of gamers.
Bandai Namco announced that the upcoming game will be titled Pac-Man 256. This is a reference to the glitch that affected the 1980 game, which saw half of Level 256 filled with random characters.
The game is being developed in association with Hipster Whale, the creators of the hit Crossy Road. It will be a free release with in-app purchases. Hipster Whale is the right developer to team up with for that particular model.
Pac-Man 256 will see players attempting to outrun the pesky ghosts, as well as the historic glitch, which will be a fully-fledged villain in its own right.
You can get an idea of how the game will work from the released trailer.
Bandai Namco has yet to confirm platforms or a concrete release date. The free-to-play game will be available for smartphones and tablets in summer 2015.
