James T Kirk himself, that's William Shatner, wants to come along with you on a tour of the universe. In this case as the voice of your ship in Elite Dangerous.
The veteran actor, who is now 85, has put his unique vocal talents to work recording 1300 lines of dialogue for a new voice pack for the game. He comes to life as a ship AI called Orion and responds as you play the game. He's also capable of listening to vocal commands and performing functions without you having to press a single button. Listen to Orion in action here.
The voice interaction seems pretty cool and quick in this test, and there's also a not so subtle nod to the exploration of James T. Kirk. The pack is releasing on the 8th of April for £9.99 but if you pre order you could win some prizes including signed photos of Shatner and a signed copy of his book Leonard - which is all about 50 year relationship with the late Leonard Nimoy.
