Sony is opening up the multiplayer component of PlayStation Plus to everyone this weekend for free.
From February 13th until February 15th, all PlayStation 4 owners will be able to play multiplayer titles online. Typically, PlayStation 4’s multiplayer offerings require a PlayStation Plus subscription. This weekend, those who haven’t subscribed to the service will be able to take on friends or strangers rather than AI bots or single player campaigns.
The PlayStation 4 is the first Sony console that requires an additional subscription to play online. To lessen the sting, PlayStation Plus members also get a variety of games for free each month. This month, PlayStation 4 owners can download Rogue Legacy, Transistor, and Apotheon. You do not get access to these games this weekend.
In case you need any more reason to join the multiplayer action, Sony released a short and snappy trailer to get you in the mood. It features the likes of FIFA 15, Grand Theft Auto V, and Far Cry 4; all excellent choices to play online.
The open weekend runs from February 13th until February 15th.
