Despite a no-show at E3 this year, it’s being reported that Sony’s more powerful PlayStation 4, the Neo, will be released before the end of the year.
Sources speaking to Eurogamer have indicated that the PlayStation 4 Neo will be released this year. In the run-up to E3, Sony’s Andrew House confirmed that the Neo is a real thing, but said that it wouldn’t be at E3. However, no release window was given at that time.
If the Neo does release this year, Sony has gotten the jump on Microsoft who will release the more powerful Project Scorpio – and possibly the most powerful console on the market – next year.
Sony could reveal more about the Neo at Gamescom (August 17-21), Tokyo Game Show (September 15-18), or Paris Games Week (October 27-31). Of course, it’s also possible that it will host a dedicated event, as it did when unveiling the PlayStation 4.
