The Rocket Launcher has been a hallmark of the Quake series since its inception, so of course it will feature in Quake Champions. And just in case you missed the rocket jumping sensation, the first gameplay trailer shows that it can be used for more than just shooting enemies in the face.
The debut Quake Champions gameplay trailer is chock full of fast-paced action set in a variety of unusual arenas - one features an eyeball that seems to watch battles unfold. It shows off some of the weaponry that players will be packing, other abilities, and fast movement, just like Quake games that many people know and love.
Some Quake aficionados may have been concerned that the formula would be watered down to appeal to the general public, but Bethesda seems intent on dismissing those fears. "Pure speed; pure skill; pure FPS," it mentions at one point in the trailer. At the same time, fans will be hoping that Quake Champions can secure a sizeable playing base.
Quake Champions will be going into closed beta next year.
