id Software used to be the king of first person shooters, and it seems they're after that crown again.
After the massive success of the recent Doom reboot they've just announced Quake Champions which brings back another classic franchise and also remembers that multiplayer used to be really freaking fast.
Here's the reveal trailer.
Yep it's one of those very cool cinematic trailers which is all about giving you an impression of what the game might be like to play, but in this case the legacy of the developers means they are capable of delivering on the promise.
Right now the game is only on PC and it seems pretty obvious that the team would like to set it up for competitive gaming in the future. They're promising 120hz with an unlocked framerate, which basically means its going to run really fast and really smooth on a monster PC rig.
There's no release window yet, we'll probably find out more at QuakeCon in August, 2016.
