Red Bull recording Top Gear style show for gaming
Red Bull is to record the pilot of Players this week, a show that is being described as Top Gear for gamers.

It is being pitched as a “weekly entertainment magazine program, committed to bringing the best games coverage in the UK but without alienating non-game lovers.” It hopes to replicate the way Top Gear is beloved by so many, not just car fanatics.

Former Hollyoaks actors and gaming obsessives Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries will host the show from the Red Bull ground floor coffee space, along with a small group of invited guests. These guests must fit the “cool, non-geeky, opinionated and fun loving” criteria.

The half-hour show will be broken into 2-3 minute segments and will also feature a gaming version of Top Gear’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. One celebrity will join the pair each week to play a bespoke 16bit old skool game for a place on the leaderboard.

Players will reportedly launch later this year on BSkyB. Do you think something like this could take off? Do we have controversial statements to look forward to from the set as Matt and Darren channel their inner Clarkson?
