Fresh from the demonstrations of
Capcom’s enthusiastically titled
Summer Jam, we have 10 fresh minutes of
Resident Evil 6 gameplay footage, the latest (and with any luck) greatest instalment in the company’s prolific survival come action horror franchise.
The first video concerns auld curtains himself,
Leon S. Kennedy, creeping through an abandoned subway, team-working his way onto locked carriages, dodging runaway locomotives and generally peppering the Undead with 9mm projectiles.
There also that bit where they rescue a survivor. She stays alive for all of eight seconds after teaming up with
Leon and
Helena.
Great work guys, no wonder the Pressie took a bullet to the brain on your watch!
The second concerns
Resi 2 alum Sherri Berkin and the fruit of Wesker’s loins (failing that, his virus ridden D.N.A. )
Jake Muller as they try their level best not to get murder-killed by one of the series’ most fiendishly creepy Bio Organic Weapons, the
Ustanak.
In an agreeable design choice from
Capcom,
Jake is able to switch between traditional projectile weaponry and his overpowered limbs, careening across the screen at breakneck speeds to deliver devastating strikes.
Any of you lucky enough to have unlocked
Wesker for
The Mercenaries sub-game on
Resi 4/5 will be familiar with the style. The battle is peppered with slow motion, last minute dodges and the B.O.W. gets stuck by AT LEAST one double-decker bus throughout.
With three distinct campaigns, each expected to equate to 70-80% of the predecessor, the agreeably sized
Resident Evil 6 shuffles its way onto
PS3 and
Xbox 360 on October 2nd 2012.
