Maybe its a sign of old age or a sense of triple A games being too familar but I'm increasingly drawn to indie titles these days. And Rime is definitly an indie.
From Tequila Games - who developed the almost great Deadlight - Rime is a game that sets you up as a kid in a cell-shaded-ish world on a mysterious quest through beautiful locations. Ok, as set ups go its still not exactly re-inventing the wheel but there's a sense of the strange and wonderful about the setting and tone which makes me feel like this is a title I really want to play.
Here's the Gamescom 2014 trailer.
In truth, the game doesn't look like its changed much since last years footage and while that means there isn't a lot else to report, its good to see a team decide on a design and stick with it. There seems to be a focus on a play with light and dark that looks engaging and those shadow monsters look basically terrifying.
The final game promises an open world (look at the animals!) and some unique puzzles, which will be enhanced by the possibilites of the DUALSHOCK 4 controller. So you'll probably stroke things.
Rime is a PS4 exclusive and has no confirmed release date yet. We're hoping for 2014 but its going to be later than that, right?
