After five years of releasing new DLC content for Rock Band
decided that resources are better spent elsewhere and will not be releasing any more DLC after April 2nd. Harmonix announced that it was immensely proud of what it has accomplished in that time with “a consistent release schedule for a staggering 275 consecutive weeks,” that has seen over 4,000 songs get released. There are DLC releases lined up for the next few weeks with tracks from RB Blitz, several Pro guitar upgrades, and a handful of artists who have not yet appeared in Rock Band.
Harmonix announced the news on its forums
, but stated that it has plans in the pipelines. As a result of “several new titles in development and developers needed to usher these new games along,” Harmonix made the decision to re-allocate personnel. If you have any questions, the developer has posted a brief Q&A on its forums, and has also opened a topic of discussion
and will be on hand to respond to queries.
April 2nd will mark the last of the new releases, but Harmonix is currently running a discount on over 1,100 songs so that players can add to their personal library from the back catalogue.
