Apparently it is time to change the world.
EA is teasing people with the promise that
Maxis will announce something next month at the
Game Developers Conference (March 6th). There is currently a countdown timer ticking down to the
EA Game Changers event at the conference and the
Facebook page poses the question: “How can we change the world together?” The same post also asks “What would you do if you had the power to change the world?” Shortly after the Game Changers countdown went live EA PR, Erik Reynolds, tweeted: "MORE INFO! EA Maxis GDC announcement, huge event w/ special guests.".
Many are speculating that this could be the announcement of a new
SimCity game. The release of SimCity 4 in 2003 was the last time that people really had the power to change the world in a Maxis game. Then again, the team is also responsible for
Spore and the massively successful
The Sims. Considering the studio’s past, it could be a God mode game, a new evolution for Spore, a refocus of the Sims franchise or the creation of a brand new SimCity game. There are times when you have to wish that a studio didn’t have a large portfolio to choose from.
