Sony will host
Destination PlayStation from February 25th-28th with a range of discussions lined up, along with presentations from third-party publishers who will show off their products and plans for 2013. Last year, titles such as
God of War: Ascension and
Sleeping Dogs were shown off; the latter of which made a more formal appearance at E3 later that year. This year could see the likes of
Beyond: Two Souls and
The Last of Us given more coverage and exposure.
The big question is if Sony will use the event to announce the PlayStation 4, and therefore get the jump on Microsoft who began the
countdown to E3 last week. Destination PlayStation is an event for retailers only, so there is the possibility that we could hear more about the next generation of Sony’s console. However, at this point in time only software reveals for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita have been confirmed.
This is the perfect opportunity for Sony to capture the headlines without having to compete with other manufacturers and game publishers. Microsoft laid down the gauntlet with its ticking countdown timer; does Sony plan to respond with aplomb?
