Sony is reportedly developing an upgraded version of the PlayStation 4, which will be more powerful.
According to developers who spoke with Kotaku, the PS4.5 will boast an upgraded GPU both to support high-end 4K resolution for games and will add more processing power to enhance games supported by the PS VR headset. Currently, the PS4 can output 4K photos and videos, but not games.
However, it's unclear when this upgraded console might be made available. Kotaku revealed that one source said that it felt "exploratory." Meanwhile, Sony is thought to have met with developers at this week’s Game Developers Conference to discuss the hardware and how it will work.
It's also unclear whether existing PS4 owners will be able to upgrade their system or if they'll have to buy a completely new system.
Sony is, of course, keeping its cards close to its chest and has so far refused to comment on the report.
