Star Trek just turned 50. On this day five decades ago The Man Trap was broadcast on CBS in the States. Technically it was the third episode produced after two pilots one of which included a different captain played by Jeffrey Hunter.
The Man Trap saw most of the main cast in place and set the standard for what was to continue. Unfortunately there's no new movie or TV series out today, so instead we're getting a game.
It's not even a new game, but Star Trek Online is coming to consoles today. Originally released on PC back 2010, it's hardly the kind of marquee title which should celebrate this incredible contribution of this sci-fi saga, but it's what you're getting.
It's a predictably huge MMO where you get to play as a host of races and do battle in space and on the ground and wear tight clothing. That makes it easier than adding physics you see.
The review for the game have never been so hot, but maybe you'll have some fun wandering around the final frontier. For your reference, all of the Star Treks are on Netflix right now.
