Star Wars Battlefront n doubt got a huge boost from being released so close to the debut of The Force Awakens, so why break a winning formula.
In an investor call EA has confirmed that a sequel to the blockbuster first person shooter will be arriving at some point in 2017, and with things like Episode VIII and Christmas falling in December, you can be pretty sure it will be late in the year before the game arrives on shelves.
A sequel to the game is hardly surprising given the fact that the original has shipped over 14 million copies since launching in November 2015.
Battlefront was just the beginning for EA, which is deep into an exclusively licensing agreement with Disney for official Star Wars games. They're planning to release at least one a year, with third person action adventure title in the universe already in development at Visceral Games and Respawn Entertainment.
