Yahoo! Super Mario is coming to the world of Minecraft on Wii U, and it’ll be free.
Nintendo announced that the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will be released on May 17 as a free update for owners of the Wii U version of the game. On June 17, a retail version of the game will be released, which includes this pack on the disc.
Alongside character skins, such as Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, among others, the Mario pack will feature re-skins for the game itself. Players will encounter Hammer Bros. and Dry Bones, see Koopas roaming the world, and use Boom blocks. Minecraft’s textures and items have been re-skinned and musical tracks from Super Mario 64 have been ported over.
This is the closest you’re going to get to a full Mario re-theme for Minecraft. You can see the DLC in action in the trailer below.
