Dungeon Crawl; It's the greatest crawl of all; No crawl's too small; For a Dungeon Crawl
Techland, the developers who brought you Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, have revealed the first gameplay footage for their upcoming first-person horror/fantasy RPG, titled Hellraid. Techland’s Chrome Engine 5 was again used to create Hellraid and the similarities in gameplay to Dead Island are immediately apparent. The similarities don’t end there; just like in Dead Island, Hellraid emphasizes team play, specifically four player co-op. Featuring four classes (Warrior, Paladin, Mage and Rogue), each with their own strengths and weaknesses, Hellraid’s multiplayer component will likely be a strong selling point.
Producer Marcin Kruczkiewicz says that Hellraid is influenced by several older games like “the first Quake, [and the] second Hexen or Diablo.” Envisioned as more of a dungeon-crawler-type adventure, Hellraid will have maps less open than those inDead Island and an experience & skill system more akin to those seen in typical dungeon-crawlers.
Techland is still seeking out a publisher to jump on board with Hellraid, but are confident that the game will be available this year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Check out the trailer below!
